Xiaochuan Hu  Self-Introduction

As a foreign language teacher with 20 years of experience, I have had students that range from preschool age to adults. I have taught both English in Beijing, China and Chinese in the US. Currently, I work full time at a local high school, and I teach one middle school level Chinese, and high school levels 1, 2, 3, 4, AP and Post AP Since 2007 until now.

My students have been awarded either first, second and third place at a US High School Chinese Language Competition. In 2013 and 2015, I had the honor of leading the US team to win 2nd place at the International Chinese Bridge Contest in China.

I have a strong ability of understanding standard-based education, including district and state content frameworks, and a mandated Chinese school curriculum. In the classroom, I am also able to consistently individualize instruction, based on a student's needs and interests.

I am a warm and caring teacher who wants all students to be successful learners. But most importantly, I have a passion for the development of a student's thinking. I work to create a classroom atmosphere that is stimulating, encouraging, and adaptive to the varied needs of students.

My early years of teaching have brought me to this belief: I believe that education is like the exploration of space -there is always something that we did not know, there is always something new to discover, and there is always someone who knows just enough to keep us interested, excited and wanting to learn more.
